Alabama National Cemetery

Scope of Work:

AIS Infrastructure was the turnkey site contractor for the Phase 1B construction of the Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo, Alabama for the Department of Veterans Affairs.  Project included the construction of: main entrance, roadways throughout cemetery, permanent administration and maintenance buildings, public information center, two shelters for services, 8100 casket sites, 2100 in-ground/above-ground cremation sites, and 2700 columbarium niches.

Details:

• 20 acres of clearing and grubbing
• 9 acres of selective thinning and pruning
• 167,700 cubic yards of site excavation
• Installed 6,000 linear feet of storm drain system 18” – 36” reinforced concrete, ductile iron, and PVC pipe, precast concrete inlets, manholes and 45 headwalls
• Installed precast concrete box culvert sized 10×5 and 8×4 and 318 linear feet
• Installed 2,000 linear feet of domestic water system
• Constructed irrigation pond with 78,000 square feet of HDPE liner and Shoal Creek intake structure
• Installed 2 sanitary sewer duplex grinder 7.5 horse power pump stations
• Constructed 10,200 linear feet of roadways and parking with of 13,100 linear feet of curb and gutter and the placement of 20,000 tons of base stone
